Future plans

In 2010 Epicor plans to bring to market a series of releases, applications and industry solutions that are designed to specifically address both the challenges and opportunities currently faced by our customers. We expect to release several new modules to our next-generation ERP solution, Epicor 9, including Expense Management, Enhanced Quality Assurance, Maintenance Management, and Advanced Financial Reporting.
There will also be significant enhancements in the areas of Project Management, Financial Management, Customer Relationship and Supply-Chain Management as well as new technical innovations in the areas of Analytics, Mobile and Cloud computing.
These new releases will also deliver greater industry functionality to improve existing strong industry solutions for discrete manufacturers and distributors but will also feature broad support for the Financial Services sector and for project-based enterprises such as Construction and Engineering firms.
Finally, as a modern global configurable ERP platform, new releases during the year are expected to increase the number of supported languages to over 20 and country availability to around 40, including support for Japan, Vietnam, France, Russia, Czech Republic, Romania, Denmark, and Norway.
Through our product strategy of protect, extend and converge we believe Epicor provides its customers with the IT choices and potential to take their business wherever they want to, and to maximize their opportunities not just today but for years to come.
 

Long-term development

Over the last year we have seen proof of how Web 2.0 technologies and social computing have vastly improved communication and collaboration within an organization, but also how it has uncovered the importance of the business user.
The impact Web 2.0 has on information workers goes beyond traditional collaboration tools. Web 2.0 makes information workplaces easier to utilize, deploy and modify. In addition, Web 2.0 technologies ease the processes in which information workers interact with business applications. For instance, rich Internet applications (RIAs) accelerate how workers tackle complex business processes, and business networking and personal Web sites make it easier to locate and share expertise.
Additionally, Web 2.0 manifestation in the enterprise has seen the development of a number of plug-in applications for office productivity suites that offer a transparent user experience of ERP information, in context but within a familiar desktop productivity environment.
These developments will almost certainly also have far-reaching effects on increasing productivity by blurring the lines and reducing the barriers between the desktop tools that all users rely on and the business application data they need to complete their work. However, it also means that business users now have access to more far-reaching and detailed data from across the whole of the enterprise, enabling them to make more informed business decisions.
With the collection of more data comes the need for more sophisticated analytics options and some of the key trends that we will see emerging over the next year will be embedded role-based analytics, contextual and predicative analysis. With the availability of data from longer periods of time businesses will be able to better predict production and business growth.
