Task description
In 1770, the township of Freistadt founded the “Braucommune in Freistadt“ and built a brewery outside of the city which started production in 1777. Today, it is the only municipal “Braucommune“ of its kind to still exist in Europe. It produces 60,000 hl of seven different kinds of beer as well as 20,000 hl of lemonade and 15,000 hl of goods for resale annually. The Braucommune only uses raw materials from controlled cultivation which are produced in harmony with nature. Its annual turnover amounted to ca. 6 million euros in 2008.
Process Optimization Controlled by IT
In 2006, the Braucommune decided to implement the ERP solution by the German company CSB-System AG in order to be well equipped for the future as regards information technology and to meet brewery-specific requirements even more effectively. This decision was based on the corporate objective to bridge the traditional art of brewing and IT-controlled process optimization. The CSB-System modules Procurement, Inventory, Sales, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Supply Chain Management (SCM), Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Financial Accounting were installed. The pre-defined, industry-specific solution by CSB-System AG allowed for quick implementation within just six months. At the same time, the entire hardware of the company was also updated. The high degree of integration offered by the CSB-System realizes a clear increase in process efficiency in all areas. For example, integrated procurement ensures that the Braucommune always has all required materials, services and capital goods available at the optimal price, quality, quantity and time.
Long-term and Profitable Customer and Supplier Relationships with CRM and SCM
Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) are also fully integrated in the ERP solution. CRM and SCM allow access to all market-relevant information along the logistics chain, including any business partners. With this information, appointment management, customer service, inventory management, coverage planning, orders and deliveries can be carried out in a structured and targeted way and at optimal costs...
